Foreign Films From Sweden = Bloody Mess

OK, this ones a bit nuts. Last night a few of us watched “Let The Right One In” a film about a kid who gets thoroughly bullied in school and ends up befriending who he thinks is a 12 year old girl. Only she turns out to be a 300 year old vampire.  This girl has his back. Hard. If the idea of a Swedish girl wrecking havok on classmates and civilians interests you, then consider looking into this. Crazy concept and really some bizarre shite. A winner at the Tribeca Film Festival and definitely worthy. Chilling, thrilling, and emotionally provocative, you’ll get your $10 worth if you can stomach it. But goddamn is it bloody. Campbell’s Tomato Soup? No? Too soon?

Happy Birthday Bootsy

59 years ago today, Bootsy Collins entered this world to give us nothing but the greasiest, sexiest music to ever penetrate our hearts and earholes.  Playing with James Brown, Funkadelic, Parliament, as well as leading his own solo career, Bootsy has had a profound influence on music for the past four decades.  When I saw George Clinton perform last year at the Greek Theatre, the show was pretty dull and watered down up until Bootsy came out and played bass during “We Got The Funk.”  He brought an instant electric surge to the show that immediately lifted every single person out of their seat.  When the song ended, Bootsy jumped in the crowd and led a sing-a-long for about ten minutes that was eventually stopped by security trying to get everyone to leave.  Definitely one of the most memorable concert moments of my life.

Guess Who’s Back: Reebok Pump Re-Release

Well goddamn. Nearly 2 decades later and you’d think they should’ve never gone away. The shoes Dee Brown and Kenny Smith rocked are back in a re-release campaign from Reebok called “Bring Back.” I know if I stumbled upon these I would definitely cop them in a second.
